Tarek Loubani On The Mend

By David Kattenburg

Palestinian-Canadian physician and human rights worker Tarek Loubani was shot in the leg by an Israeli sniper in Gaza, yesterday, May 14, while tending to unarmed protesters calling for an end to Israel’s siege and the right to return to their lands inside Israel.

Loubani is an Associate Professor in the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry in London, Ontario. His Glia Project has developed a low-cost stethoscope, and a computer-designed tourniquet which he had begun to use to treat injured Gazan protesters. I reached Loubani this afternoon, in Gaza.
